The Landerziehungsheime have their roots in Thüringen, due to the fact that among others Hermann Lietz and Paul Geheeb studied at the University of Jena and the oldest successfully functional Landerziehungsheim is situated in south Thüringen (Haubinda). The Landerziehungsheime have always functioned as models for school development.

COMPLETED COOPERATION
Development and direction of the Landesgraduiertenkolleg "Protestantische Bildungstraditionen in Mitteldeutschland" from 2010 to 2014

Europäische Jugendbildungs- und Jugendbegegnungstätte Weimar (EJBW) - From 2005 to 2010 head of the program advisory board of the EJBW. This educational institution broaches the issue for Thüringen as well as for the whole Republic, of the different levels of educational options on the European level, guided by the question "What strengthens and endagers democracy?"

Development and direction of the PhD-school "Laboratorium Aufklärung" in the scope of the Research Center (2008 to 2011)

Thüringer Institut für Lehrerfortbildung, Lehrplanentwicklung und Medien (ThILLM) - Development of a training concept for boarding school educators in Thüringen. The program aims at the development of the practices of specialized boarding schools (sport, music, language, mathematics), demonstrating it as an indispensable component of school development

Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Mercator-guest professorship during 12 months for Mrs. PD Dr. Gabrielle Oberhänsli-Widmer (Jewish studies) - joint project with Prof. Dr. Jürgen van Oorschot (Old Testament) and Prof. Dr. Karl-Wilhelm Niebuhr (New Testament) at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena

Thüringer Institut für Lehrerfortbildung, Lehrplanentwicklung und Medien (ThILLM) - Training courses in the area of jenaplan-inspired schools in Thüringen. For some years, courses for the development of the corresponding school profile have been provided for these schools, in order to promote the tradition of school development specifically linked to Thüringen into the present

Herbartianismus-Research position at the University Duisburg-Essen (Prof. Dr. Rotraud Coriand) - Intense research cooperation on the historical network structures and the modern significance of the reference to the pedagogy of Johann Friedrich-Herbarts in the second half of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century ("Herbartianer")

Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) - DAAD-guest professorship for 12 months for the Indian Educational professor Prof. Dr. S.C. Ghosh - joint project with Prof. Dr. Martha Friedenthal-Haase (Adult Education) at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena

Thüringer Institut für Lehrerfortbildung, Lehrplanentwicklung und Medien (ThILLM) - Promotion of the publication "Martin Buber. Bildung, Menschenbild und Hebräischer Humanismus" (Budget: 2044 Euro) - joint project with Prof. Dr. Martha Friedenthal-Haase (Adult Education) at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena

Evangelische Kirche Mitteldeutschlands (EKM) - Consultation of the Protestant Church on the subject "schools in church sponsorship". In contrast to other federal states in Germany, there is no network structure for the protestant schools in Thüringen. A greater visibility of the interconnection of schools in the sponsorship of the Protestant Church could support the self-opted responsibility of the Protestant Church for the educational politics in Thüringen and Sachsen-Anhalt.
